Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation – Malawi (BCMCF-M) is a not-for-profit organization working in partnership with the Malawi government in the health sector. Our Mission is to provide high-quality, high-impact, highly ethical pediatric and family-centered health care, health professional training and clinical research, focused on HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, malnutrition and other conditions impacting the health and well-being of children and families worldwide.

The Baylor-Tingathe program developed in 2008 initially responded to suboptimal uptake of PMTCT and pediatric HIV services in Malawi and has grown over the past 12 years to support the full cascade of HIV care and treatment services. The current CORE programming seeks to support Malawi in achieving epidemic control, by providing client focused care to people living with HIV from the time of diagnosis to linkage and full engagement in care. BCMCF-M’s CORE programming is funded by USAID, and is currently operating in 6 districts in Malawi. BCMC-FM is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of:

Job Tittle: Drivers
Location: Phalombe, Machinga, Salima, Mangochi and Balaka
Duration: 1 year (Renewable)
Reporting to: Transport Officer

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Driving the BIPAI vehicles as directed including driving mentors on mentorship trips
  • Updating log books and fuel consumption records
  • Perform security inspection of vehicle and location
  • Report to responsible officers on challenges encountered by car truck devices
  • Ensure the vehicle is safe at all times from; theft,fire,accidents,packing violations, vandalism
  • Ensure proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arrangement of major repairs, timely change of oil, check of tires, brakes, car washing, etc.
  • Ensure availability of all the required documents including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, first aid kit, and necessary spare parts.
  • Ensure that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents.

Attributes

  • Ability to communicate well in English, both verbally and written
  • A holder of a full MSCE with valid driver’s license. (Class Ci, category PG, defensive is a plus)
  • Five years’ work experience with NGOs is a plus.
  • Honesty and trustworthy
  • A person of high integrity, mature and team player with sober mind.
  • Must be willing to work in any of the districts the program is operating
